Can We Believe in Creation and Evolution?

Questions Science Asks of Scripture and Scripture Asks of Science

An honest and accessible treatment of one of the most common objections to Christianity

Many Christians remain skeptical about whether science's current old-earth, evolutionary consensus properly respects the Bible. And many scientists' concerns about Scripture hinder their faith. Can We Believe in Creation and Evolution? invites readers to “listen in” as two experts tackle these problems.

Pairing Old Testament scholar and archaeologist James K. Hoffmeier with biologist and genomic researcher Janet L. Siefert, this book addresses questions like

    • What is the proper role of science in explaining origins?

    • How are scientific experiments about origins conducted?

    • Which Scriptures deal with the origins of both the universe and of humans?

    • How can we affirm God as creator and evolution as a mechanism of creation?

In this book, both authors pose questions, posit answers, and provide reflections. Ultimately, they agree that when science and Scripture are interpreted properly and each discipline stays within its respective lane, conflict between the two need not prevail.
